When we were in Norwich last week we wandered through the bea-u-ti-ful Royal Arcade.
Apparently the lanterns which you can see here were only added during the 1980's when the arcade under went restoration.
The colour, pattern and artwork of the tiles is stunning.
It certainly looks fabulous,

I wonder if I've ever been there during the 3 boring weeks I spent in Norwich, as can't remember those tiles! It must be old age.. :D

i love Norwich Lisa....the arcade is wonderful isn't it.....looks like you all having a good summer....(except for 4 hours of ironing that is)x
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! I would take that over a bland modern mall ANY day. (And I just heard that the entire city of Norwich offers free WiFi - imagine!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - you've made me want to go to Norwich now!
ReplyDeleteI must have walked through the Royal Arcade hundreds of times, but never knew about the Harrods link. I've just spent a week on hols in Wiltshire taking photos of wonderful old architecture while forgetting how wonderful the bits I look at every day are - thanks for the beautifully photographed reminder!
