On a walk in our local park recently I was really sad to see the diamond shaped flower beds around these evergreen domes had been grassed over.
These diamonds were our favoured course for many egg and spoon races during those times when the children were younger and we would pack up a picnic and a fill up a day of the school holidays with outdoor fun.
So many happy memories.
It's sad when things change but that's one good thing about blogging, there's always posts like the one you've linked to that you can look back on. I do wish I'd started blogging when my kids were young.
ReplyDeleteHappy memories indeed ... I suppose it's cheaper and less work to just have a grassed area!
ReplyDeleteI always think it so lovely to see flower beds planted out, I have lots of memories of holidays to Eastbourne and my mum and dad pointing out the various flowers in the beds on the promenade ...
Nowadays it is quite common to go around a roundabout and see a sponsor sign, some roundabouts do look very nice, one close to me has been planted out in wall flowers - it will be lovely to see them all in bloom.
Have a good weekend - I dare say you will be busy.
All the best Jan
Oh that's a shame! I LOVE innovative games that make use of the geography of a place!!x
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. Probably cutting back on maintenance due to 'austerity measures'! I hope you find somewhere equally appealing for future egg and spoon races! x
ReplyDeleteThat's sad but good memories for you all x
ReplyDeleteChange is always difficult...whether it is large change or something a bit more mundane. But alas, we always have the memories :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame, I suppose it is all to do with cost cutting, it is the reason for everything it seems nowadays!

Hi Lisa ... just stopping by to say, hope all is well.
