worry

A day of worry.

I took Melvin to the vets this morning.

I found out about an hour ago he's ok.

He has feline cystitis. Apparently his bladder was very badly swollen and his urethra full of crystals causing a blockage.

He's going to be at the vets at least until tomorrow, maybe Wednesday.

He'll be on a special diet for the rest of his life but he should be ok.

He and Malcolm have only been here a few weeks but they mean a lot to us already.

Ive just found your lovely blog, and I was happy to read your cat is going to be alright. Its awful when a pet is sick isnt it.
I happened to have bought the same little bracelet for my friend's daughter recently...and thought exactly the same as you, how nice it was and how much Id like to have kept it!! :D

    Will pop by again soon

  7. Oh dear Lisa, sorry to hear Melvin is poorly. My parents cat had the same problem with crystals in his urine - I think it must be very painful.
Melvin is a gorgeous cat, as is Malcolm (not to be left out!).
It's so distressing when our pets are poorly, the fact they can't tell us what's wrong and that we feel so responsible, but can do so little.
Take care, and give Melvin a big hug from me when he comes home.
Thank you for all your kind wishes for Milly too.

  9. What a relief! My sister-of-the-many-cats says that cystitis is very common in kitties. I guess that means it's not too big a deal? Hope that's the case.
