When T started school I changed over to using an academic diary, instead of the traditional January to December variety.
It was an easier way to keep track of dates for each of the different terms and holidays as the year became carved up in portions of, approximately, six weeks.
As I started working in a school last December these cycles have even more relevance to us.
Whilst out at the weekend I spotted a range of academic diaries in The Works and bought a pretty peppermint coloured one.
Next job is to find a quiet hour so I can fill it in.
I get quite excited about that.
I feel the same way when I start a new notebook.
One special date I can add is a trip to the theatre in October for me, G and S. We have booked to see Coppelia, it will be the first ballet experience for us all.
It's always good to have good things to look forward to.
Two lovely things! Good day! I still like an annual calendar rather than an academic diary, despite the fact I've worked all my life in schools. But then I use a Filofax so chopping and changing is easier than a fixed diary.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty diary. I've never gone over to an academic diary, I still use a January to December one, in my Filofax of course. I love filling in a new diary, all the empty pages just waiting to be written on. My mum took me to the ballet when I was young, though I don't remember seeing Coppelia. I have memories of Giselle and The Taming of the Shrew, I can't remember what else. I'm sure you'll all love it.
ReplyDeleteI don't keep a diary at all. No wonder my life is a little chaotic. We went to a ballet recently (Isabel and Jim's first and only my second). Swan Lake - Matthew Bourne's version. Enjoy yours! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to have things to look forward to. It's my daughters 21st next year and I am thinking we may have to have a girly weekend in London and fit in a show with her godmothers at the same time. She has mentioned Billy Elliott which I love so that might be the one.
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of the Works I get all my note books from there. I did see that the academic diaries were in stock on Saturday when I was there. I saw the one you bought it's very nice. Could be tempted myself as well as picking one up for my daughter.
