Jamaica


Jamaica gained it's independence from the UK on 6th August 1962.

I shall will leave you with Harry Belafonte singing about leaving his little girl in Kingston as we go off on our travels for a few days.

    I take it not to Jamaica! Did you see the step back in time series and in particular the 1960s episode where they concentrated on the arrival of the families from Jamaica. What a rubbish welcome they received. I felt rather less proud of being Britush when I saw how some were treated.

    Awww, that is a lovely song. We sang Island in the Sun for our summer concert at school! I think he sang that too!
